Have you ever heard of a carpet rake? I’m guessing the answer is no.
Most people haven’t heard of (let alone used) a carpet rake before, but it’s time you gave one a try. It’s an inexpensive tool that will keep your carpet soft, clean, and looking brand new.
Here’s what a carpet rake looks like:
As you can see, it’s nothing fancy. Don’t let the lack of glamour fool you, this is one of the most important tools to keep in your home.
I’ve been using a carpet rake in my home for many years, and I’ve saved thousands of dollars because of it. By using this tool regularly I have avoided needing to have my carpets cleaned regularly. I’ve also been able to keep my carpets around for much longer than the average lifespan. The carpets still look as beautiful as the day they were installed and I’m not going to need to replace them anytime soon. Of course I also don’t allow food, drinks or shoes near my carpet. So that may have something to do with it too 🙂
Here are 3 ways you can use a carpet rake:
1. After you vacuum to fluff the pile and remove any sweeper tracks. Try it, it makes the carpet looks brand new.
2. Before you vacuum to loosen dirt and debris.
3. Before a shampooing to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.
Use a carpet rake just like you would a leaf rake in your lawn. Pull the rake toward you in straight rows in the opposite direction of the pile. This is what gives it the like-new look you want.
You can find a carpet rake at just about any big box hardware store. They range in price from $24-$40 depending on where you make your purchase. I bought mine at Home Depot from the contractors counter. They didn’t have one in stock, but they ordered one and shipped it directly to my home.
If you want to get most out of your carpet, I highly recommend giving carpet raking a try. It will get your carpets looking new again in no time. Let me know if you need any help getting started!
